The story of the, at first, successful forgery of
Galileo's "Sidereus Nuncius Martayan and Lan" is quite
interesting. Below, there are an interesting lecture
about, which is initially overly academic, and an
open access book to read about the forgery. It is
interesting how the expectation of a "great discovery"
might have led expert to overlook some "red flags"
about its authenticity.
